YEKOOCHE CLAN HOUSE Yekooche, BC
The Clan House is a place of protection, and wellbeing – an architectural
expression of the Bah’lats – that remains the foundational law governing
and organizing Carrier-Sekani society. At core, the intention is for the
space of the clan house to mirror in some ways the function of traditional
Clan houses, representing connections to community, promoting good
conduct, encouraging land stewardship and nurturing spirituality for the
community. More broadly, CSFS envisions Clan Houses to be build cultural
continuity, enhance and grow capacity for care, and cultivate cultural
competency enhancing or even reawakening skills that were traditionally
exercised in the community. Thereby it is a keystone in the cultural health
and strategy of their services
