SK’ELEP SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE  Kamloops, BC

The Sk’elep School of Excellence is an example of bold geometric forms announcing their presence in a vast desert landscape. Each form has a specific function – whether to block highway noise, shield classroom pods from intense sunlight, or create an intimate and protected courtyard for outdoor teaching. The classroom interior roof structures were designed to mimic a basket weave, and were prefabricated by a single person, then lifted into place. Iredale Architecture worked closely with the school administration to respond to the unique requirements of this facility.
