ROBINSON NET ZERO HOUSE Mayne Island, BC

This ultra-green cottage was built for Peter Robinson, CEO of the David Suzuki Foundation to facilitate weekend conferences. The cottage uses solar thermal panels to meet most of its heating and hot water needs. Rain water is collected in basement tanks for drinking and irrigation of an extensive vegetable garden. Stone quarried from a nearby hilltop and cedar milled from an adjacent property help to harmonize the cottage with the surrounding environment.
