KAY MEEK ARTS CENTRE West Vancouver, BC

Kay Meek Arts Centre is West Vancouver’s main performing arts venue adjoining West Vancouver Secondary School. The Centre comprises a 500-seat proscenium theatre that hosts local and international productions and a 200-seat studio theatre that doubles as a soundstage and summer venue. The lobby connecting the two theatres contains a public art gallery and community assembly area. A serpentine-shaped glass lobby cascades down the site’s steeply wooded hillside adjacent to a seasonal flowing creek.

Recently, Iredale was invited back to provide an elevator to connect the three main floors of the facility. This gave us the opportunity to introduce features such as a ticket booth, coat check, sculpture garden, and dedicated dance studio, which we could not include in the building’s original scope of work.
