DOIG RIVER COMMUNITY CENTRE Rose Prairie, BC

The design of this multi-purpose facility reflects the cultural history of the Doig River people: the drum, the circular meeting space and the central fire pit. These elements influenced all program components for the facility, including office space for the Band, a health clinic, an RCMP office, a museum and a gymnasium. The building form language conveys the feeling of camp, with the various elements kept to a low scale and organized around the two-storey drum.
