MOUNTAINSIDE SECONDARY SCHOOL SEISMIC + BUILDING ENVELOPE UPGRADE North Vancouver, BC
The Mountainside Secondary School Project comprises a multi-phased, complete seismic and building envelope upgrade of the 60-year-old secondary school. Due to the scope of the seismic upgrade work, we reimagined the academic spaces to create more engaging, flexible teaching facilities. In keeping with current 21st Century Learning design principles and BC’s new student-centered curriculum, the new construction creates open visual and physical access to the learning areas, which are now configured as interconnected studios rather than traditional classrooms. All the lighting has been upgraded to energy efficient dimmable LED with daylight harvesting. The classrooms have been opened to each other via 2.4m double doors, and to the corridor with both glazing and double doors.
