HAISLA MULTIPLEX

This project’s inspiration was naturally the dramatic site overlooking the water and mountains beyond. Our mandate was to design a building that would harmonize with the band’s cultural and natural heritage, while serving multiple functional needs.

A fitting space for feasts was essential, and our design showcases the striking sea and landscape that is the Haisla’s ancestral home. An adjacent industrial kitchen facilitates feasts for the entire band, and the space doubles as a gymnasium and emergency shelter.

Materials were carefully selected to ensure durability and ease of maintenance in this humid environment, while harmonizing with the majestic natural setting.
