DOIG RIVER COMMUNITY CENTRE

The design of this multi-purpose facility reflects the cultural history of the Doig River people: the drum, the circular meeting space, the central camp fire, dream trails to and from the meeting space, and the feeling of camp around the fire pit. These elements influenced all program elements, including the Band’s office space, health clinic, RCMP office, museum, and gymnasium. The building form language conveys the feeling of camp, with the various elements kept to a low scale and organized around the central drum.
