WHISTLER HOUSE

This house is a modern interpretation of the traditional ski chalet. The roof wraps down over the sides in a protective gesture while opening up like folded paper on the ends to provide cover and privacy for the deck spaces. Traditional materials like stone, wood and metal roofs are used to ground the building in its mountain context. The lower floor extends out past the main building to provide an entrance to the worker’s suite at the back. This also creates a patio space above with ample exposure to sunlight.
