VANROOY NET-ZERO HOUSE

 

This net-zero house in Campbell River utilizes passive solar design, thermal mass, and active solar hot water panels in combination with air / water heat pumps to heat itself year round. High-efficiency appliances and lighting keep electrical demand to 3,000 Kw-Hr, or 25% of the level of a conventional residence of this size. The two tier design features sweeping glass curtain walls that form a gradual curve from the centre of the house.
