This project involves a complete renovation of a large house that sits on a bench overlooking the Okanagan valley. Our approach involved removing the entire roof and adding a vertical stair element. This adds much-need texture and variation to this large building, which previously seemed heavy and unarticulated. Lower roofs were also added at the main entrance and back to help reduce the mass of the facades. Wood columns and trellises were incorporated in addition to more sophisticated window and roof detailing. The interior spaces were opened up to create better flow between spaces ands open up views to the lake and lavender fields beyond.
