PLACE DES ARTS

Place des Arts is a performing and visual arts venue at the heart of Coquitlam’s French Community of Maillardville. It forms a focal point for Iredale Group’s design of a cluster of parks and buildings arranged around the Heritage Square. The project involved the adaptive reuse of two existing heritage homes, the relocation of an existing train station, the addition of teaching and dance spaces for the visual and performing arts and the creation of a park. A new 20,000 square foot Great Hall was designed to incorporate the historic Ryan House, which was restored and converted to office space for staff. The Great Hall provides a major art gallery venue as well as an open gathering space for the community.
